SHAC is required under Education Code 28.004(k) to publish a "Statement for Public Inspection". The purpose of this statement is to provide information on adopted policies and procedures pertaining to certain health and nutrition related issues.  This statement is as follows:

  • Physical Activity for Students in School 
    WISD board policy ensures that elementary and secondary students engage in at least the amount and level of physical activity required by Education Code 28.002(I) {See policy EHAB and EHAC}
  • Physical Fitness Assessment 
    Annually, the district will conduct a physical fitness assessment of students in grades 3- 12 who are enrolled in a physical education course or a course for which physical education credit is awarded. At the end of the school year, a parent may submit a written request to the principal to obtain the results of his or her child's physical fitness assessment conducted during the school year {See Policy FFAA}
  • Vending Machines 
    The district has adopted policies and implemented procedures to comply with agency and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines.   •  Tobacco Products & E-Cigarettes   
    The district has adopted policies and enforces penalties pertaining to the use of e-cigarettes as defined at Education Code 38.006, and tobacco products by students, staff or others on school campuses or school-sponsored or school-related activities {See policies DH and GKA}.
